In the recent Jubilee Honours List, our very own Lynne Gabriel was awarded an OBE in recognition of her enormous impact in the counselling and psychotherapy professions. I asked Lynne if I could interview her to find out what it’s like to be awarded an OBE, and to commemorate this fabulous honour. Lynne agreed, and we recorded the interview over Zoom on June 22^nd 2022. In our discussion, Lynne reflected on her career, from its brief beginnings as a psychiatric nurse, through to finding therapy, and becoming Chair of BACP. She shared her feelings about the pluralistic network of therapists and its compassionate and foxy identity! She also discussed with me what pluralistic therapists may be able to contribute to the social and political context of the country. I felt inspired and excited by the discussion, as I always do after talking to Lynne. I hope that you’ll enjoy this video as much as I did.
